Valley Gives will be offering several types of prizes as incentives to inspire donors and organizations to participate in the excitement of Valley Gives. Thanks to the generosity of local individuals, business sponsors, and the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts, Valley Gives will award hundreds of monetary prizes to participating organizations, beyond what they raise from donations.
All prizes are donated through the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts and will be disbursed after May 3.

Please note that donations made to organizations are processed by the Razoo Foundation and will be disbursed to the designated organizations within one month’s time. Prizes are paid by the Community Foundation directly to organizations.
Power Hours and Golden Ticket Prizes
Throughout Valley Gives Day, donations made to participating organizations will be randomly chosen to be amplified with a “Golden Ticket.” This will add $500 or $1,000 to the designated organization. More than 100 different organizations will receive these prizes. A participating organization may only win one Golden Ticket (either the $500 or $1,000) during the giving day.
Power Hour Golden Ticket – $1,000 Each
- Morning (9 AM) Balise Power Hour – At the end of the 8 a.m. – 9 a.m. hour on May 3, 10 random golden tickets will be awarded to participating organizations. Each of the 10 golden tickets will be worth a $1,000 prize grant to be awarded post-event.
- Evening (9 PM) Paul Doherty Power Hour– At the end of the 8 p.m. – 9 p.m. hour on May 3, 10 random golden tickets will be awarded to participating organizations. Each of the 10 golden tickets will be worth a $1,000 prize grant to be awarded post-event.
Hourly Golden Tickets – $500 Each
5 Random Golden Tickets worth a $500 prize grant will be awarded at the end of each of the 14 hours listed below to a participating organization. A total of 75 organizations will receive a Golden Ticket.

Most Unique Donors
A unique donor is identified by the email address entered at the time of the donation transaction. If an individual donates to the same organization multiple times, s/he will be counted as a unique donor for the first donation transaction. If that individual donates to multiple organizations, s/he will be counted as unique for the first donation to each organization.
Prizes will be awarded for most unique donors to an organization based on their budget size category. There are 3 categories – large, medium and small organizations. These categories will be determined shortly after registration is closed. In each category the first place award will be $5,000, second place $4,000, and third place $3,000, fourth place $2,000 and fifth place $1,000.
New Donor to Valley Gives
Donors who have never given through Valley Gives (in 2012, 2013 or 2014) are eligible for a new donor bonus. This bonus will be awarded to the first 600 new donors who make donations on Valley Gives Day (donations need to be received on May 3). The new donors will have $50 prizes added to their first gift of the day.
Please note that a new donor can have made a donation to an organization in the past but must not have made this donation via Valley Gives.
“Meet Your Match” Prizes
The Community Foundation will provide a bonus to randomly selected organizations that meet their $2,500 or $5,000 match. 20 organizations will be randomly selected from a pool of those who achieve their $2,500 match to receive a $2,500 prize from the Community Foundation, and 3 randomly selected organizations from a pool that meet their $5,000 match, will receive a $5,000 prize from the Community Foundation.
Organizations can only be entered into one matching prize pool – either the $2,500 or the $5,000. Regardless of the number of matching grants an organization may have met, it can only have one organizational entry into the pool. Organizations not selected for a matching prize in one pool are not eligible for the other matching prize pool.
Peer Fundraiser Prizes
Prizes will be awarded for the peer fundraiser that gets the most donations for the organization s/he is supporting. The first place award will be $3,000, second place $2,000, third place $1,000, fourth place $500 and fifth place $500.. These prizes will be given to the organization supported by the peer fundraiser.
Donor participation: Any individual may donate. Donations made through Valley Gives are received by Razoo Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization and then granted to the designed organization. Donations designated to non-profit organizations, fiscally sponsored organizations, registered public schools, and tax-exempt religious organizations are 100% tax-deductible and irrevocable. Donations will not be refunded. Donations may only be made via credit or debit card. Checks are not accepted since this is an online giving event only.
Minimum donation: The minimum donation is $10.00. There is no maximum donation.
This is a 24-hour giving event, so donations must be received no later than midnight on May 3, 2016 to count toward totals that determine prizes. A donor may apply for a matching donation from their employer if eligible, but only gifts made on Valley Gives Day via the Valley Gives website will count towards leaderboard totals.
Challenge matching grants to an organization do not need to be made via Razoo. If a matching challenge grants is made via Razoo that amount will be included in the organization’s totals for Valley Gives Day; matching challenges made offline cannot be counted toward the days totals, only the donations toward the match will be counted. The Community Foundation encourages challenge matches to have their activation (begin) date be for May 3 to focus the giving on Valley Gives Day. Donations that contribute to meeting the match can be made prior to May 3 if the begin date is set to an earlier date. While this can be a convenience to the donor, the Community Foundation does not encourage this as a fundraising campaign strategy.
To participate, an eligible organization or group must have its primary office/services be based in the Hampden, Hampshire or Franklin counties of Massachusetts OR primarily serve a population of people in at least one of these counties.
Only IRS registered 501(c) 3 a 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations, registered public schools, tax-exempt religious organizations or groups that are fiscally sponsored by one of these categories are eligible to participate in Valley Gives to receive donations and prize grants. The Fine Print About Prizes
The Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts may modify any restrictions or conditions if, in the sole judgment of the Foundation’s Trustees, such restriction or condition becomes unnecessary, incapable of fulfillment or inconsistent with the charitable needs of western Massachusetts. As such, the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts reserves the right to deny or condition the distribution of prize grants if, in the judgment of its Foundation Trustees, such restriction or condition becomes necessary.
