How do Scheduled Donations work?

We’ve talked about how you’ll be able to encourage donors who might otherwise be busy on 12.12.12 to schedule a donation that will be charged to their credit card on Valley Gives by using a link on your Razoo page.  Our pal Claire at Razoo sent us this great blog post from (which also uses the Razoo platform) that explains perfectly how the whole process works.

A few extra things we’d like to add:

  • When a donor schedules a gift to your organization, it will not show up on any of your donor reports until their card is charged.
  • The gifts scheduled to be made to your organization will be processed at approximately 9:00 AM on 12.12.12.
  • Donors don’t receive the thank you letter you created in Razoo until their card is charged.  When they finish the process of scheduling the gift, they will receive an acknowledgment from Razoo.
  • Dont worry if the blue link to schedule a donation is not appearing on your Razoo page.  It will in the next few days when we make the next version of live.
  • You cannot schedule a donation by using the Razoo Facebook widget

  1. It appears that you must log in first, then select the scheduled donation option. If you do it in the other order – all your entered info disappears as does the scheduling and the donation will go in immediately. Shouldn’t it be made clear that you should log in first to set up your scheduled donation. My friend had that happen to him.

  2. Question: Is it possible to offer giving amount choices? For example $10, $25, $50, $100, other?

We tried doing it, and we could set it up, but then when we clicked on an amount, it bypassed the Schedule your donation for Valley Gives” option. Is there a way to have both?

Hi, It would be fun for next year if the page administrators were able to see record of the scheduled donations as they are made to our organization, prior to the 12th.. just to have a sense of how outreach efforts are going-
But surprise is good too! And I hope everyone is pleasantly surprised on the morning of the 12th-

We can bring that up with Razoo when we debrief on this year. One key thing to remember is this is a 24-hour campaign – not a three week campaign. Scheduling gifts should be promoted as a last resort for people who can’t give on the 12th – not as a way to extend Valley Gives into being a much longer project that it was designed to be! That said, knowing ahead of time would be nice.
